Lotte Hellinga: William Caxton and Early Printing in England

A significant share of scholarly research on Western printing has focused on “incunabula”, the finite and fascinating corpus of items printed before 1501, in the “cradle” days of the craft. And one of the foremost bibliographer/book-historians working within that sub-field has been Lotte Hellinga. As former Deputy Keeper at the British Library and editor of the award-winning English installment of the Catalogue of Books Printed in the XVth Century now in the British Museum, she is an expert on early English printing, but has also worked extensively on printing in the Low Countries and Europe, with a particular interest in typography.
