Erlesenes Essen. Literatur- und kulturwissenschaftliche Beiträge zu Hunger, Sattheit und Genuss. Ed. Christa Grewe-Volpp und Werner Reinhart (Mannheimer Beiträge zur Sprach und Literaturwissenschaft, 55).
The food for thought served by Christa Greve-Volpp and Werner Reinhardt is pleasantly varied with ingredients ranging from American to Russian and medieval to contemporary. You can enjoy the courses in any order. It is worth praising that there is no repetition – usually one way in which many authors spoil the book. It is rich in information and mostly digestible even without much formal education in the humanities. The skills you need for enjoying “Erlesenes Essen” are reading German, English and preferably also Latin and Russian.
