Jane Austen’s Letters. Fourth Edition

This new edition, revised and expanded from the third edition of 1995, does not contain any new letters, though, as the editor hopefully predicts, “others may yet surface as more family archives find their way into modern County Record Offices” (p. xvii). However, this new edition takes into account Le Faye’s own indefatigable researches into the author’s family background and social context, most impressively documented in her monumental Chronology of Jane Austen and Her Family (Cambridge 2006).
