With the necessity of distance learning in the wake of the COVID crisis, “digitalization” has well and truly arrived in German schools. The collected volume Digital Teaching and Learning: Perspectives for English Language Education is a welcome contribution to the transfer of general approaches into the more subject-specific concerns of the EFL classroom.
The volume is divided into four sections: “Setting the Scene”, “Digital Dynamics of Language Learning and Professional Development”, “Digital Dialogues in Cultural Learning and Teaching with Texts” and “Outlook for the Digital Classroom”. The individual contributions tend to end with practical examples and feature stimulating “Warm up” and “Follow-up and Reflection” activities. The book is thus very suitable for the use in undergraduate teaching and teacher training.
