Daniela Caselli: Beckett’s Dantes: Intertextuality in the Fiction and Criticism.

In the 21st century, every new work on Samuel Beckett is faced with the evergrowing difficulty of justifying its relevance in the face of countless previous studies on the topic. Daniela Caselli approaches this problem confidently, indeed seems to take it as the very basis of her scholarly endeavour. She is thoroughly familiar with the existing Beckett criticism (and with the secondary literature on Dante as well) and throughout proves her ability to summarise the established critical positions succinctly and clearly – in itself no mean feat when one considers the abundance of relevant material.
