Brangaene bei Thomas, Eilhart und Gottfried. Konsequenzen aus dem Neufund des Tristan-Fragments von Carlisle

Die Frage, ob Gottfried Eilharts „Tristrant“ als zusätzliche Quelle benutzt hat, schien lange Zeit unentscheidbar zu sein. Der Fund des Tristan-Fragments von Carlisle ermöglicht es nun, die Frage erneut aufzugreifen. An der Figur Brangaenes lässt sich zeigen, dass Gottfried die Tristanversionen von Thomas und Eilhart nebeneinander studiert hat.

The question whether Gottfried used Eilhart’s „Tristrant“ as an additional source was long thought of as unanswerable. Now, however, the discovery of the Carlisle Tristan fragment enables us to tackle the question again. The figure of Brangaene shows that Gottfried studied the Tristan versions of Thomas and Eilhart side by side.
