Boden des Jahres ist im Jahr 2017 der Gartenboden (Hortisol)

Der Boden des Jahres 2017 ist in Deutschland und der Schweiz der Gartenboden (Hortisol). Am 5. Dezember 2016, dem Weltbodentag, wurde der neue Boden des Jahres in der Landesvertretung des Freistaats Thüringen in Berlin der Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt. Umweltministerin Anja Siegesmund übernahm die Schirmherrschaft für den Freistaat Thüringen. Der Gartenboden ist ein humusreicher, lockerer und stark belebter Boden, der viele Nährstoffe und viel Wasser speichern kann. Er ist durch jahrhundertelanges Gärtnern mit Kompostwirtschaft, Bewässerung und tiefem Umgraben in Klostergärten, Schlossgärten, Bauerngärten und Stadtgärten entstanden Er ist ein wichtiges Zeugnis unserer Kulturgeschichte.

Soil of the Year 2017 in Germany and Switzerland is the Hortisol (WRB classification: Hortic Anthrosol). On World Soil Day – 5th of December 2016 – the new Soil of the Year was presented in Berlin under the patronage of the Free State of Thuringia. Anja Siegesmund, Thuringian Minister for the Environment, Energy and Nature Conservation opened the ceremonial act. Hortisols are human-made soils, rich in humus, with well-formed granular structure und a high biological activity. Hortisols are able to store a lot of plant nutrients and water. Hortisols originate from horticulture with compost, irrigation und deep-reaching tillage over the centuries. Typical sites for Hortisols are monastery gardens, castle gardens, farm gardens and allotment gardens with long-time cultivation. Hortisols are important records of our cultural history.
